Chapter Seven - The Bournemouth Alldayer
Bournemouth has always been a popular seaside resort.
Over the last few years it became increasingly popular with young people during Bank Holiday periods.
To avoid outbreaks of trouble common to most other British seaside resorts during Bank Holidays, the Bournemouth
police have been firm on law breakers and clubs if open
at all on Sundays have to shut early especially during
the busy Bank Holiday periods.
Pete Mathews realised the ready made market for one
of his alldayers on a Bank Holiday and booked the Stateside Centre’, in Bournemouth, for a ‘National Soul Festival’
on Sunday the 6th May, 1979.
The Funk Mafia’ disc jockeys were booked and another successful financial venture was the outcome.
As disc jockeys it is in our own interest to ensure that
audiences that attend a venue where we work get value
for money entertainment in comfortable surroundings
with adequate refreshment and toilet facilities.
The audience will have a good time and there is a
good chance they will come and see us again.
