THE CLUB DJ / CLUB TOUR
Starting out as a club DJ in the early 80's as a teenager playing
at renowned East London, Essex and Kent venues such as The Berwick
Manor, Chains, Stage 3, The Top House, Tipples, Septembers, Bensons
to name a few of the many. Bigger was one of only a handful of
DJ's that fused his love of soul music with his love for hip hop.
In the late 80's again alongside literally a handful of DJ's namely
Westwood, Steve Wren and Lee Stephens he became the vehicle to
promote what was the then modern contemporary soul danceable music
which would eventually be tagged 'New Jack Swing'. So NJS changed
to 'Swing Beat' along came Jodeci, R Kelly, Mary J, SWV, TLC to
add to the already crowned kings of new jack swing Guy, Keith
Sweat, New Edition and Al B Sure. Club nights such as BO$$, Juicy
Fruit, Cleavage, Club 8090, The Flava and Bump n Hustle propelled
Bigger to the forefront of the urban music scene. NJS progressed
musically it became less raw and although he preferred the rawness
personally he realised this change had to take place for the music
to survive.
